Tourist Attraction in Makati
World-Class Shopping Centers
Touring Makati, or any place for that matter, always includes shopping sprees. This city has numerous super classy shopping centers where foreign and local items are available—even souvenirs supposedly available only in rural localities—like printed shirts, native accessories, and other handcrafted souvenir items. Just visit the Filipiniana sections of shopping centers like Glorietta at the Ayala Center, SM Makati also at the Ayala Center, Power Plant Mall at the Rockwell Center, Louis Vuitton at Greenbelt 4, Nike Rufino at the Rufino Pacific Tower at the corner of Rufino Street and Ayala Avenue, Bonifacio High Street in Fort Bonifacio Global City, and Land Mark on Makati Avenue, among many others - there there is no excuse not to enjoy the famous Makati Malls.
Historical Sites
Makati also features historic sites even many locals are still unaware of. Touring Makati should include the Guadalupe Ruins, for instance, located along Bernardino Street in Guadalupe Viejo. Here are remains of the Nuestra Senora de Gracia Church constructed in 1629 in classical Doric Architecture. In Fort Bonifacio, the American Cemetery and Memorial keeps war records and wall artworks depicting scenes from World War II. This is a favorite tourist spot among war veterans visiting or touring Makati. Also in Fort Bonifacio is the “Libingan ng mga Bayani” or Memorial for Heroes.
Thrift Shops
Makati also has superb thrift shops where good items are sold. For tourists thinking of buying real Makati stuff like printed shirts but which are not so expensive, the flea market or thrift shops on Hizon Street in Bangkal, Makati, just before the Malibay area, are perfect. After a shopping spree here tourists might as well try the mouth-watering pastas and pizzas at Fat Micahel’s near the thrift shops.
