Subic is a shining jewel in Central Luzon, geographically located 110 kilometers northwest of Manila, the capital of the Philippines.

Strategically positioned in the dynamic Asia Pacific Region, Subic Bay occupies a 60,000 hectare complex including some areas of its neighbors - Zambales and Bataan.

Asia's promising new tourist destination, Subic Bay's strategically located, deep natural harbor once contained America's largest military installation overseas and a favorite rest and recreational center for the service men. When the US Navy pulled out in 1992 after the destructive Mt. Pinatubo volcano eruption, it has since been transformed into a free port and Special Economic Zone. Apart from now being a center for commerce and industry, Subic which takes about 30 minutes by plane and 2 ½ hours by land also offers a unique combination of attractions, including first-class hotels, duty free shopping, golf, horseback riding, scuba diving, water sports and even jungle treks. In Subic, you can enjoy one of the Philippines' last virgin forests.

Travel Quotes:

The attention of a traveller, should be particularly turned, in the first place, to the various works of Nature, to mark the distinctions of the climates he may explore, and to offer such useful observations on the different productions as may occur. William Bartram

Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water. W. C. Fields

Main Dishes Philippine Cuisine

Adobo is one of the most popular Filipino dishes and is considered unofficially by many as the national dish. It usually consists of pork or chicken, sometimes both, stewed or braised in a sauce usually made from vinegar, cooking oil, garlic, bay leaf, peppercorns, and soy sauce. It can also be prepared "dry" by cooking out the liquid and concentrating the flavor. Bistek, also known as "Filipino beef steak," consists of thinly sliced beef marinated in soy sauce and calamansi and then fried in a skillet that is typically served with onions.
