The Island Garden City of Samal is a 2nd class city in the province of Davao del Norte, Philippines.

The name is often abbreviated into IGaCoS. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 82,609 people in 17,388 households.

The Island Garden City of Samal is now a part of Metro Davao.

A coastal paradise at the heart of Davao Gulf with 118 kilometers of coastlines, Samal has a cluster of 9 islets.

“An urbanizing center within a rural setting, it is a component city of Davao del Norte created by virtue of R.A. 8471.

Considered the first amalgamation in the country, the city’s creation was ratified by its residents on March 7, 1998.
